About Tri-Calendar Tool

Last updated: January 2026

Tri-Calendar Tool is a free, browser-based utility that converts between three major calendar systems used across Ethiopia, the Middle East, and the world: the Ethiopian calendar, the Hijri (Islamic) calendar, and the Gregorian calendar.

Why We Built This

Ethiopia is one of the few countries that uses its own calendar system alongside the Gregorian one. Meanwhile, millions of Muslims in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa also rely on the Hijri calendar for religious observance. Despite this overlap, there was no single free web tool that handled all three calendars together — with conversion, day counting, Ethiopian time, and a printable view.

We built Tri-Calendar Tool to fill that gap. It's fast, works on any device, and requires no signup.

What It Does

How the Conversion Works

All conversions use the Julian Day Number (JDN) as a universal bridge. Each calendar is first converted to its JDN, and then the JDN is converted into the target calendar. This ensures mathematical consistency across all three systems.

Hijri Accuracy Note

Hijri dates in this tool are astronomical estimates based on the Umm al-Qura calendar. Actual Hijri dates may differ by ±1 day depending on local moon sighting. For religious observances, please consult your local mosque or authority.
